Elementary and Preschool Picture Day is September 26. Parents can order using the form sent home or online. We can't wait to see all of the beautiful smiles!

Parents of girls in grades K-5 are invited to a Girl Scout Parent Meeting Sept 7 in the Elementary Cafeteria. If you are interest in joining but unable to attend, please let Mrs. Dill know so she can send the information home with your child!

Have you ever thought of joining the Elementary PVO or maybe you are just curious about what parents do to fundraise for and coordinate student events throughout the year? Consider joining us for the Parent Volunteer Organization Meeting tonight! There are so many PVO events that happen throughout the year such as mother-son bowling, the sweetheart dance, book fairs, field day and so much more! We love seeing new faces at our meetings. We wanted to remind all of our Vandal Families that school begins for all K-12 students tomorrow, Wednesday, August 23rd. The doors will open at 7:30 am and free breakfast will be available for all students. Class begins at 8:00 am. All MS/HS students are expected to report to campus for all day focus. Calling all Kindergartners! It isn't too late to register your child for kindergarten! You can join us for one more registration event next week on Wednesday, August 16th at 5:30 in the field behind the elementary!! You will get to have popsicles with Principal Zimmerman and play with your peers. Each child registered will get a coupon for a free ice cream from the Whippy Dip! As a bonus each family who completes all necessary paperwork will be entered into a drawing for a free Vandal t-shirt! We can't wait to meet more new families. See you there! Farm Fest begins tonight! You can find Merrill Community Schools out and about in the community this weekend! You can see our Merrill Marching Band and the Merrill Communith Child Development Center in the parade tomorrow morning, our High School Girls Basketball Team will be hosting the color run at the Village Park after the parade, we will have a swag booth set up at DTE’s Kid Zone, and as you pass through the Heavenly Thunder car show hosted in our parking lot be sure to swing through the concession stand to grab yourself a bite to eat! This evening you can check out the slow pitch softball tournament, the Smokin The Hyde’s event, the beverage tent a Popps Place featuring Tweed and Dixie or the light parade! #WeAreMerrill #VandalPride

The Merrill Community Schools Summer Feeding Program has been a delicious and nutritious bonus for the Merrill Community. No one has to go hungry with this program in place! Children 0-18 or persons 19-26 who are enrolled in a program for the mentally or physically disabled can eat breakfast and lunch for FREE Monday - Friday. Adults can purchase a complete breakfast for $2.00 or a complete lunch for $3.00. You do not need to be affiliated with Merrill Community Schools to participate in this program! We believe that every individual should have access to healthy and filling food to fill the hunger gap. A special shout out to Cassie Mueller who has spent her summer cooking and serving yummy meals to all who visit us at the Merrill Elementary Café for Meet Up and Eat Up! #WeAreMerrill #VandalPride

Mrs. Fenby's 1st Grade Classroom wants to thanks to Ms. Chelsea, our Health Resource Advocate, for the Germ Demonstration! We learned a lot about germs and how to wash our hands the right way! #WeAreMerrill #VandalPride

Our 4th and 5th grade LEGO Robotics "Team Soundwave" competed in the Freeland Tournament on Dec 3. Students present their robot to the judges, explain the features of it, compete in a teamwork challenge, and suggest a solution to the problem of creating a new renewable energy source. They placed 12th out of 36 teams! Excellent job Vandals!

The 5th graders completed a 100 random acts of kindness challenge. They read the book “Kindness is cooler Mrs. Ruler” and discussed the importance of kindness and different ways to show kindness. Every student was challenged to complete random acts of kindness and write down what they did on paper hearts. They went above and beyond, completing 129 acts of kindness over the course of 1 week! 😊
